Het leuke van een Golf 2 is dat er onderdelen (met name 2e hands) in overvloed zijn, er zeer veel voor te krijgen is en het gewoon fijn sleutelen is. Technisch LEGO voor gevorderden zeg maar.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Toen ik de Golf kocht, was deze voorzien van een schroefset en 16" wielen....voor de rest origineel. Motorisch lag er een 1.6 carburateur (Pierburg....zucht) in waar een 3traps automaat achter hing. Al snel stond er een tweede Golf op de oprit die als donor zou dienen voor ombouw naar 5bak.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dit is inmiddels gebeurd en is de Golf voor ongeveer 90% voorzien van nieuwe onderdelen. Technisch wordt het dus al een redelijk betrouwbare auto. De carosserie is iets minder, maar dat komt later wel. Bij de ombouw naar 5bak moest er ook een andere carburateur komen. Ik heb gekozen voor de vervangingscarburateur van Weber; de Weber DMTL. Deze is stukken betrouwbaarder dan de Pierburg en is tevens veel eenvoudiger af te stellen.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Samen met mijn vriendin heb ik vorig jaar meegedaan aan de Carbagerun 2011 als hippies, dus de Golf moest er ook aan geloven. We hebben er veel leuke reactie op gehad, maar hebben nu wel genoeg van alle aandacht die het Golfje trekt. We hebben ons ingeschreven voor de Carbagerun 2012 en gaan dit jaar als race-team. Er lag een 1.0 motortje in die mij ongeveer 30 000km probleemloos overal bracht waar ik heen moest. Na het plaatsten van een FK schroefset en een setje andere wielen kwamen de extreme plannen. De Lupo werd geschorst en een 1.8T blok uit een Audi TT Quattro werd gekocht. Op dit moment ligt het motorblok in de Lupo aan zelfgemaakte motorsteunen welke zijn afgeleid van Volkswagen Motorsport.
